I love Ellen Degeneres and her show! This clip cracks TEL and I up all the time. Watch the whole clip, but 5:17 is our favourite part!

In addition, although this sounds terribly bimbotic I love all the dresses that Paris Hilton wore on Paris Hilton's my new BFF show (TTYN, haha. TEL’s watching it too!), the clothes are so incredibly gorgeous and very me. I wouldn't want to be her BFF though.

I made Green Tea Mont Blanc! I really like it. :)
Photobucket
Honey Matcha Financier base and Matcha white chocolate truffle enrobed in chestnut cream.
Also, macarons! Finally. Chestnut and Nutella macarons. :) I'm pleased with it, considering it's my maiden attempt.

Photobucket
Yay I'm making good use of my holidays.

Yesterday my Mum asked me if I wanted to go to Le Cordon Bleu in Paris after A Levels, probably cause she read about it in he papers that day. Hahah actually I don't mind going to Paris itself and not use the money to enroll in the patisserie course but to use to money to shop instead.

It feels great sleeping/eating/swimming/going out/spending money while others are at school. :)

Anyway, results are coming out next Monday (click here)! My heartbeat gets all irregular thinking about it...

Yesterday I went out with TEL!
Didn't do much shopping for CNY though, it is so hard to find something I have in mind, because all the shops sell similar clothing. :( Anyway instead of shopping at the usual haunts (i.e. Wisma, Heeren, etc.) we walked around Taka, DFS Galleria and Paragon... in search of TEL's Burberry wallet, which sadly, could not be found... Which reminds me of the stupid Burberry salesperson who tried to con us. Well all in all it was a pleasant and enjoyable shopping experience. :)

Photobucket

Met up with Esther, Jacq and Astrid for ice-cream at Ben & Jerry's @ Dempseys. Um I'm really not a fan of Ben & Jerry's, but the company was good. :) Before that I met Astrid to go shopping for a bit. We were trying to convince Astrid to buy something from Topshop. Mmm I do not have a single piece of clothing from Topshop, contrary to popular belief. I hate it, it's seriously overrated. So are geek glasses.

This is for TEL to show her cousin that Juicy Couture is opening. Please do not buy Juicy Couture (To add on to the list: Louis Vuitton, Carlo Rino, Bonia), it screams "Ah Lian"(in the case of Juicy Couture, the rest are plain gross).

Photobucket

Oh I just found out Rosalind Pho (sp?) is my neighbour. And I saw the nyona... Zhenzhu or something at Liang Court's Kino.

Sunday, December 28, 2008

Am I the only one who doesn’t like watching Little Nyona? I finished watching the recorded episodes in less than half an hour because I kept fast forwarding. I find that show so incredibly slow-moving.

Desserts (for Christmas) I made!

Photobucket

Crushed dried rosebuds, rose-white chocolate whipped ganache, raspberry gelee, litchi gelee. Inspired by Pierre Hermé's Emotion Ispahan. :) So good I can still remember how it tastes like.

I saw a cookbook by Pierre Hermé in Virgin Megastore in Paris on all his macarons gosh they look so incredibly good, pity it was in French. Sigh I wish I knew how to make macarons.

TEL is taking very nice pictures! Will impart all that I know about photography to her when she comes back from Malaysia.

Dinner with the extended family thereafter at Dempseys. I passed a box of La Maison Du Chocolat chocolates to Susan via Aunty Kat, and she called me to say it was the best chocolate she had tasted in her life haha. I’m craving it so much, it’s truly one of the 10 best chocolatiers in Paris/the world. It’s so expensive though, one piece costs at least 3 SGD.

Yun Ching has come back from Brisbane!!! Met up with her and her sister Yun Fang some time ago. We watched Nick and Norah’s infinite Playlist, which I thought was okay. I’m no movie buff. Conversations about the family between her and her cousin are hilarious. Oh we went to Far East because her cousin was there and went into 2 shops selling tee-shirts that looked really alike with 2 guys who wore the same outfit working as salespersons who looking really alike too so we thought he followed us from one shop to the other but it turned out to be otherwise haha.

“So you’re not the same guy in that shop just now?”

“No.”

Hahahahah.

Went to her house after some time, her uncle used to be my Dad’s colleague!

Then my Dad picked me up and they talked and I got to stay for another half an hour. :)

Photobucket

I am in love with this ruby ring my Mum gave me. Apparently my Dad gave it to my Mum when they were dating haha. Small but beautiful. On anoher note I have a fetish for cocktail rings now. :)

Met up with Ethel yesterday at Vivo City, which is not really that big. We are both late whenever we meet up haha. WE had the “shopped in Japan/Paris” syndrome so we didn’t get anything in the end because everything was so common. I think once you’ve been to Orchard you would have covered every shop to be found in Singapore. Sad.

This week and the next are going to be really fun! I thought Adrian and Nat were coming back on the 23rd but they popped up in church on the 21st instead what a nice surprise. We're going to Bukit Timah Market/Food centre! Yay I haven't been there in ages... I miss the carrot cake, I think that's one of the few chinese foods I like.

And thanks for your Christmas presents/well wishes everyone. :)

Paris Part II

I miss the people, the atmosphere, the food, the shopping, the supermarkets...

Everyone dresses well, guys dress à la Jude Law, with trousers at the perfect length, just above the shoe, fitted jackets, and women donning fur coats and well-fitting jeans with stilettos.

I lost my black leather jacket, so I had to wear the blue jacket for 12 days. :( Should have been the chamber maid. I don't think I've lost anything expensive before (Yes I am actually more responsible than you hah), so this should be a first.

Paris Part I

I’m so bored! But it beats being stressed out anytime. Anyway I’m back from France and Germany, which has made me hate living in Singapore even more. The trip was beyond awesome, re-visiting some places, shopping, Christmas markets, eating, a ton of cheeses, casual banter with strangers and tasting some of the best food I’ve ever had in my life. :) I want to migrate to Paris! Pity I can’t speak French. I only know how to get around, understand what I’m ordering and buying and speak basic phrases. :( Mummy says I can go there with my friends next time, and TEL says she can go with me in the future too! :)

The people and weather were nice, gosh I love the way everyone dresses! Tres chic. Unlike S’pore where everyone looks like everyone else, has a generic dress sense, shops/eats at the same place (Orchard is passé, Dempsey’s FTW!)… yuck. Yeah I think I’m talking about myself too sometimes.

Image overkill. :)

Breakfast, yumyum. Pastries, desserts and cakes took up 3/4 of the buffet spread.

/edit/ 26th Nov 2008

Pictures! I’ll go into details when I get back from France/Germany.

St. James.

We entered the wrong party at first at Movida but it was so interesting, better than XOXO at Powerhouse, in terms of music and entertainment. It was such an eventful night! Saving Melin (HAHAH), lecherous men, gay guy + Astrid, Astrid’s urge to dance, people dressed casually, groping, cabaret, cool stamps (“Remember to show them the right hand!” [which Astrid failed to do haha] ) fights, hilarious robotic dancing, drunkards, rude people, guest list, cranberry drinks, “This is Singapore”!

I heard it became even more eventful after I left hehe. Thank you very much Astrid, Lianne, Melin (and thanks for the European playlist too!) as well as Esther for that night. :)

Ahh will miss my Channel U 10 o' clock show and channel 8 9 o' clock show (yes very loser I know but I have nothing better to do). Thank goodness for DVD recorders.
____________

This week will be a very enjoyable week. :)

Today I went last-minute shopping with Mummy for winter clothes (hate doing last minute things BTW, shopping or not), because we realized some of them had lost their elasticity etc. and some leather gloves have mould on them (going to buy a new pair in Paris though, leather gloves here are very expensive :( ) Sucks I only get to wear winter clothing once a year. If Singapore had winter I would have a plethora of scarves (love them) and jackets.

Tomorrow I’m getting my new lenses and filter for my camera, then its shopping at Vivo for a while before meeting Astrid, Lianne, Melin and Esther for dinner. St. James thereafter. :)

Wednesday would be the bussing trip around Singapore and Twelve + One Pâtisserie. Head to the airport at night and then I’ll fly off to Paris the next morning. :) Yay can’t wait. Croissants, baguettes, escargots, French onion soup, Crazy Horse… Pierre Hermé! Ladurée! Sadaharu Aoki! Fauchon! La Maison Du Chocolat! G. Detou! Mora! Le Bon Marché! Pozzetto! Grom! Even the best desserts/pâtisseries in Singapore pale in comparison to those in Paris. Actually I hate eating bread, save for tuna buns, sausage buns, white bread and those served in French restaurants with butter on them. But bread in Paris is heavenly. :)

P.S. Spoiler for ANTM Cycle 11

I’m apathetic towards McKey winning but I still think Analeigh should have been in the final two (and won). :(

P.P.S. Aunt Irene offered me a job! It sounds intriguing, running around dressing models/celebrities/ “football stars” (In Singapore? Dream on). Plus, the pay is good! $80 a day for 8 hours of work. And Aunt Irene thought it wasn’t enough.

P.P.P.S. It's a devil to wear Prada...have you seen this?

P.P.P.P.S. I baked! For the first time in 2/3 months?

I finally had my fringe cut! It was so disgusting. My previous hairdresser left, the new one's weird even though he does a pretty good job. And he wears the grossest Gucci shoes (even though I like Gucci). I feel like changing my hairstylist.

Zouk flea market with Ethel! :) Waited for her for 45 minutes (I hate waiting BTW) but while waiting I was talking to this (young) woman sitting beside me on the bench about stuff, like “How’s the flea market I only come here for clubbing; my friend’s late yeah so is mine etc.” Sigh it reminds me of Europe/Australia where I can just talk to any stranger. Singapore should have more people like her.

You’ve got to love Agyness Deyn. :)

Plus, Melin, Ee and I think the womanizer in the Womanizer music video is pretty hot. :) Watch it to believe it! (Don't be momentarily stunned by a naked Britney. There's no frontal nudity. :))

On a more pensive note my cousin passed away, which was quite a shock for me since she's only in her thirties and has a 3 year old son. This might sound hackneyed but life truly is unpredictable.

In light of this I think we're postponing the trip to Paris to late December/early January (before 11 January, thanks for the useful info Zoe!). But at least I'm still going to Europe (and having weekly French lessons with Tristan). :) I need to shop for high rise boots too, since viewing The Sartorialist has spurred me to dress better in winter (if only Singapore had 4 seasons). I don't want to look like another plain old tourist.

Well, make the most out of your holidays everyone! Carpe diem!

/edit/ 10 Sept 08

I've been waiting every September to see what new contraption Apples comes up with. Nothing very fascinating this time round but I might consider changing to the new iPod nano (the red one!!!). My current one is scratched all over and disgusting. Not considering the iPod touch though because it's a little too bulky for me. I like things I can stuff in my pocket/handbag/clutch. Moreover, colours appeal to me. :)

I know these were from a gazillion years back but whatever. Pictures from the film camera (I lost 12 shots accidentally while yanking out the film from the camera because I exposed one part of it to the light. :()

Le sigh if only we had prom all over again.

School was humdrum and dreary. I shouldn't have gone to school today. I only went to school because I thought there was CCA checking. But yakking with Esther, TEL and Jacq (especially about some guys) is insanely fun though. ;)

After listening to Hotel California on Connor's iPod I'm very much in love with the song now. Now it's been on repeat on my iPod. :)

Oh I love Marjorie (She's from Marseille, France!!!) from ANTM 11. She's so adorable, so Agyness Deyn. I love her peroxide blond hair. But nerves get the better of her though, I just know she isn't going to win. :(

Thank you very very very (x10000) much Nathan. :)

And to -----, I'm really sorry and I hope that we'll still remain friends and maybe, just maybe, I might consider it after my O levels. :)

I'm hoooked onto Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency. It's hilarious. Season 4 is out now. :) Yay one more show to watch besides ANTM C11.

Some of my favourites:

I love Sorin. :) Even though he's not a model anymore.

Check out 3.28 onwards.

And 7.45 onwards

PS cafe@Dempsey with Adrian Nat Deanna Ed Nathan Hx on Thursday night. :) It was great catching up with Adrian and Nat, with their anecdotes from Down under, followed by sea salt and caramel ice-cream!!! We love. :) (Speaking of which there's a fleur de sel-caramel-chocolate craze going on in my house now.) Afterwhich we went to SC and visited Aunty Maureen. Didn't eat a lot then but the crème brûlée was awesome and the chocolate mousse was... special hahahah inside joke. Send me pictures friends. :)

Went out with Car in the afternoon a few days ago for some shopping, and reserved a few items (because my dad wants to pay for them via credit card to gain Krisflyer miles). :) It was lovely catching up and talking about anything under the sun, from shopping and people to irksome Singaporean behaviour (Do you say 'Thank you' when someone opens the lift for you and waits for you to leave before getting out [simple things like that]?). Met um a gay guy along the way. Hahaha he's pretty funny (in a positive way). BTW I don't condone homosexuality.

Forgot what the commotion was about.

And TEL! You haven't sent me the pictures yet!

Chinese tuition with Melvin and Ethel is always enjoyable. We were having a debate on who _____ liked and finally affirmed our suspicions by asking Ethel lookalike2. Melvin won the debate, with Ethel and I still reeling in shock and disbelief. Really...

Lunch next week with Melvin and Ethel tentatively. Melvin's going to treat us[with his $500 a week allowance (!!!)]. I don't know if I should believe him. Pfft.

My phone conked out a few days ago. It's unable to send SMSes. So if you've sent me an SMS but have yet to receive a reply you know the reason now. >:(

Oh and I got my Jivara Lactée, Ivoire and Equatoriale chocolate! :) After O's I'm gonna make this for Mummy's birthday. :)

Anyway I'm going to get a new DSLR! Preferably a Nikon D40x or D60 (And I'm hoping for a D80 at the end of next year!). Giving the comex fair a miss though, many have told me of how disgustingly crowded and hectic it is. :( As long as I get my camera before setting off for the Land of Baguettes. Which is not too long a wait. :)

It's going to be a happening week. Can't wait! :)

-----

Sorry TEL, as much as you are my best friend, this is too comical and entertaining hahaha.

The reason why TTM, Melin, Salad, Thiam, Esther and I were sprawling on the floor/table laughing on Monday:

From TTM's blog:

" Oh. I must recount something really funny that TEL said. Context: Mr Loh let us watch this video, where this guy took a hard-bioled egg, made a hole at each end of the egg, and blew the egg out of the middle ring of shell. So. TEL went home to try it, and apparently so did Sarah Thiam.

ST:Aye, how come you can do it, and I can't?
TEL: The bottom hole must be quite big.
ST: How big is your bottom hole?
TEL: A few fingers. *starts laughing*

And we all burst out laughing, and ostracise TEL for the rest of Physics and History. The funniest part was when she pretended to be mad at us for making fun of her, she pretended to cry! haha! Dabbing her eyes with tissue!!! Yes, it had us howling on the floor with laughter. (o: "

Lunchbox day! :)

We are ANTM fanatics. We did another ANTM shot for class photo-taking too.

This is for Mrs Jay (Juan) Manuel; ANTM Cycle 11 as seen on the latest issue of Vogue!

Photobucket

Yuck hahaha.

On a different note, Daddy brought back lots of goodies from Japan. :)

Gérard Mulot macarons, one of the best I've ever tasted (after Pierre Hermé).

Citron, The vért, Café, Framboise, citron being the best.

And the best matcha and adzuki red bean cake I've tasted, from Pâtisserie Tiffin.

Oh I went to Canele at Shaw Centre on Sunday and saw this:

Considering how much I frikin talk about food my blog could jolly well be a food directory.

Cath...
She stands with a well intentioned man
But she can't relax with his hands on the small of her back
As the flashbulbs burst she holds a smile
Like someone would hold a crying child

Soon everybody will ask what became of you
Your heart was dying fast and you didn't know what to do

Cath...
It seems that you live in someone else's dream
In a hand-me-down wedding dress
With the things that could have been are repressed
But you said your vows and you closed the door
On so many men who would have loved you more

Soon everybody will ask what became of you
Your heart was dying fast and you didn't know what to do
The whispers that it won't last roll up and down the pews
And if our hearts were dying that fast, they would have done the same as you
I'd have done the same as you

Aunt P gave me a pair of 3-inch heels. Yay now I don’t need to wear my 4.5 inch heels for Founders. :)

Hectic weeks. :( But random happenings like ANTM reenactments and being the fashion police make my day. :)

We did SAT sample questions in Learning Lab for an hour. :) Maybe I should go to the States to study? I was actually thinking UK/Australia. I guess I can leave that decision till later for the time being.

Test shots for D. :)

I know this is late but thanks for the well wishes everyone. :) They're greatly appreciated. :)

Ahah well I’m feeling really unperturbed these days, and I’ve been going to bed early because there’s nothing for me to stay up for. I finished watching ANTM Cycle 10! I love Katarzyna. And, she’s gorgeous. I think gorgeous people look their best without make up. :)

OMG I want this! So cool, a yoghurt and ice-cream maker.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Then I can come up with 7 tier ice creams with 7 different flavours, just like the very ones I had in Hokkaido. I miss Japan and Hokkaido milk and Ginza (strawberries, rock melon, tempura, dessert, matcha!).

Photobucket

Photobucket

They looked something like these.

I can’t really recall all the flavours but I think there is matcha, lavender rock melon, sea salt(really good even though it sounds weird), black sesame, chocolate, strawberry, milk… yum.

Oh I got my prom dress. :) It’s not perfect per se, but it’ll do. :)

I miss Australia too. My ANTM bunkmates, the supermarkets, snorkeling, friends. And the guy at movie world we bumped into. Ahaha.:)

Aha well there are pictures of Jacq (snorkeling and shopping buddy!) and I snorkeling too, but we look too funny for the pictures to be put up here. Hahaha. (Snorkeling pictures to be up soonish)

I went to Giuseppe Zanotti today, they were having a sale and I wanted to buy a pair of T-bars but they didn’t have my size. Damnit.

The week was mundane, as usual. >:(

Anyway it was the ACS IB open house on Monday. Met up with Mel, TEL, Esther, Astrid and Zoe. :) Pretty much did nothing there. One hour later we found ourselves in the canteen eating dessert/noodles. Esther and I are dessert buddies. :) Then we cam whored till 4 plus.
